Shoot pointed at the Teacher, and commanded Fang to "Guard 'em!". He thought that would be a good idea since he didn't want the Teacher to get hurt, and if Fang was guarding him then Fang wouldn't be in the middle of the fighting. Of course, it all didn't seem that way to the terrified professor, who saw a full-grown wolf wriggle out from under the table and head his way. It was to the savant's great relief that Fang turned and presented a rather bushy posterior, growling a challenge to any of the Bad Men who might slip through the doorway past his master.

As for the doorway, Shoot stepped through it and a little to one side, right behind the cultist who had wounded Fang. Since that individual was busy fighting Seat, this placed his flank to Shoot, who proceeded to use him as a practice dummy for his scimitar.[sblock=OoC: ]Fang is ordered to guard Professor Reeger, and should probably end up in either H6 or I6. Shoot will move to H9 and attack Cultist #3. Invisible Castle is down right now, so I'll trust you to roll for me when you can. Shoot usually attacks at -1 for d6-1 damage, but should be flanking Cultist #3 for a bonus.[/sblock]

Seat decides to not allow the cultist any more opportunity for attacks, and tries a stab on his own. He fails by a mile.

[ooc: You can trust me. He fails.

Remember that Bless is still in effect. Don't forget that +1 to your attacks]

Combat, Round 7

Seat takes a stab at cultist #3, but his strike is unable to find flesh.

OOC: Raven is up next.

OOC: Sorry - for whatever reason, I have a hard time remembering to check this thread!

IC: Raven stows her crossbow & draws her short sword again. She steps over the fallen cultist #2 (5 feet) to get a better view of the action.

Combat, Round 7 Cont., Combat concluded

Raven stows her crossbow, draws her blade, and steps over the still form of cultist #2.

Tali takes advantage of the opening created when the red robed cultist swung at Anvuss, and drops the man with a well placed strike.

Professor Reeger eyes Fang warily when Shoot commands him to guard, but otherwise seems quite grateful. Shoot heads out into the hallway and, flanking with Seat, swings at the cultist who injured his animal friend, missing.

A panicked look in his eyes, Cultist #3 swings at Seat, missing, and then steps to K10.

Anvuss shouts out his warning, and swings at the remaining cultist, nearly missing. The blow clips him, and he spins around before crashing to the floor.

The elderly professor stares at the now oddly quiet hallway before saying, in a slightly hushed and awed tone, "Look what you did!"

OOC: That's ok Manzanita, hopefully I can make it interesting enough that you start checking it more often. ;)

[sblock=Quick OOC Question]Do you folks prefer the simple links to invisible castle for the rolls I've made, or would you prefer the link contains the numbers rolled? Also, as I fully anticipate that there will be more combat in this adventure, was this combat handled well enough for you?[/sblock]

[sblock=Quick OOC Answer]It doesn't matter much to me; when I rolled physical dice for combats in PBP/PBeM games I ran, I didn't bother mentioning the result on the die most of the time. And it ran okay; I haven't run many high-dex, tumble-through combat types before Tali, hence my part in bogging things down with questions.[/sblock]

"They attacked us, without any warning, or any explanation of why. I do not think they expected the degree of resistance they got." Tali tells the elderly professor.

Anvuss turns to professor Reeger.

"Khyber cultists are frequently deranged, but why would these show up in your lab and spontaneously announce their intention to kill all they found there?"

ooc: I think the new encoded links from invisible castle are awesome! I always put stuff in the notes field anyway, and it makes it really easy to copy and paste right into the post. Also makes it easy to check and see if you're using the correct modifiers.

I'm enjoying this game, and I thought the combat went great. Then again, perhaps I should be more dire in the face of wanton destruction. I've convinced Someone (and possibly Dungannon) that I'm bloodthirsty. ;)

Shoot had an idea! What if the teacher's helper had gone down this hall instead of the other one? Shoot found the building confusing. So many hallways...it was easy to get lost. But if Shoot was going to find the man, Fang would have to help him.

"C'mere boy, c'mon!", he called as the wolf quickly left the professor's side. "Don't worry", he reassured the academian. "You're safe now. The Bad Men who wanted to hurt your are all broken now." Truth be told, Shoot didn't know if any of them could be fixed. But he was pretty sure that if they'd broken him, they wouldn't have fixed him, so he didn't mind so much if they couldn't be fixed. He pulled out Loris's scarf from his pocket as Fang trotted to his side.

"Good boy, Fang!", he praised as he petted his friend. The animal's wounds were worrisome. He could get another spell in the morning that would fix the beast, but until then his poor friend would be in some pain. The 'forged looked over the animal's wounds, and decided that another blow like the last one he suffered might have broken the wolf for good. "No more fighting for you!", he ordered. "We don't want you to get hurt. No more fighting until you're better.!"

He showed the scarf to the eager animal. This would be fun! Fang liked to follow smells, and it would be a lot safer than trying to bite a Bad Man with one of those funny swords. "Find 'em, Fang, find 'em!", urged the Warforged, hoping the wolf could pick up some scent in the back hall.
