Head of the class (stonegod judging)[Concluded]

Raven curses, but gives silent blessing to her large round sheild. Without it, she'd probably be dead by now. Again she feints, then tries to stab the floating head in its eye.

OOC: Use Combat expertise for AC 18. rolls: bluff =8; to hit = 22; dmg = 9 sneak dmg 4. Bluff will probably fail, but let me check for crit confirm. Very nice. confirm check = 19; dmg =9. That should do 18 pts of dmg! Take that you flying head thing!

Combat, Concluded.

Seat moves up and swings his torch at the last remaining skeleton, but to no avail.

Raven's quick feint draws the head's attention, and she quickly adjusts her aim to plunge her blade into the head's left eye socket. The blade slides smoothly all the way through the head, and ichor sprays out the back as the tip of her blade pokes out. The head's wings twitch slightly before falling limp, and the head starts to slowly slide off of the blade, clearly deceased.

Skeleton #4, heedless of it's inevitable doom, seems unwilling to give up the chance at tasting Raven's blood. It swings it's claws at Raven, but her defense keeps it at bay.

Anvuss steps up to flank with Seat again, and shatters it's skull with another sound blow from his morningstar.

The distant sounds of fighting can be heard from elsewhere in the complex.

Raven shudders in distaste. She's never experienced undead or abominations such as this flying head before, and with the battle over she feels like retching. Later, upon reflection, she is proud to have managed to keep up the fight without breaking down. For now, she knows their mission has just begun.

"Tali! Pull the other level! Try to get this portcullis up! Everyone else, let's come together. Is anyone badly injured?"

It will probably take a couple rounds to get the gate up, Raven figures. So she kneels next the black-veiled skelleton's remains. Laying down her sword and sheild, she searches the robes for anything interesting. (Search +6)

"Good boy, Fang!", praised Shoot as he gave the animal a big hug.

"Hey, what's that?", asked the warforged, half remembering that Mad Dog's men were supposed to be breaking into the building at the same time.

"I'd say the portcullis is the way to go, if we can open it. But there's another trapdoor over there, if we can't" comments Seat.

Anvuss will help search the room. He checks to see if Shoot needs healing, but finds him unharmed. Others are likely stronger, but he will also strive to help with the porticulus if possible.

OoC: Just wanted to say that I'll have sporadic internet access between now and 1/2/07. If I can log in, I will, but otherwise NPC Shoot as appropriate. Shoot will try to stay within 5' of Fang until the Guidance spell wears off, and is interested in checking out the noise beyond the portcullis.

Oh, and Happy Holidays to one and all!

Tali finds the levers to raise the portcullis and reset the trap before Raven mentions it to him, and he is able to open the portcullis without resetting the trap.

Raven searches the body of the black veiled "woman", but aside from the various elements of the disguise she had already seen, and confirming that the body is indeed that of a skeleton, she finds nothing else of interest.

Anvuss notes in his search that the crates appear to be full of various research and alchemical supplies. Parchment, inks and inkpens, glass vials and containers, and various arcane and alchemical components can be found amoungst the crates. Anvuss notes that one could probably assemble a fully functional Alchemist's lab, and possibly fill out a spell component pouch or two, with most of the equipment stored here.

OOC: Someone, the other trap door leads down to the other side of the sewer tunnel that you came up. My apologies if that description wasn't clear.
