Shoot had just bent down to ask, "What is it, Fang?", when Raven yelled and charged into the room. He stuck his head in, and beheld the strange scene. Could the man in yellow be the one named "Loris" that the Teacher was looking for? Fang had recognized something. But even one as simple as Shoot realized that the man's movements seemed wrong, as if he wasn't himself.
"Hey, I think that one m-man isn't right", he said, pointing to his temple with the "touched in the head" gesture for the benefit of anyone looking in his direction (which definitely excluded Raven and Seat). "Maybe it's m-magic or something." He followed the others into the room, his sling in one hand and a bullet in the other.[sblock=OoC: ]Initiative is 13 and Sense Motive is a remarkable 22. Most likely, Shoot will order Fang to attack the skeleton while bombarding "her" with sling bullets himself.[/sblock]
Raven, having moved into position already, swings her blade in a strong arc, connecting solidly with the black veiled woman's "head". Sure enough, it flies off in a tangle of veils and tattered silk to land a few feet away. No movement comes from within the pile of fabric, and Raven seems to have elmininated that possible threat with one skillful blow.

Shoot and Fang padded wordlessly into the room, surprised that the tentecle-headed woman-thing fell so easily. Fang trotted ahead, pausing only when Shoot drew even with Seat.[sblock=OoC: ]Shoot will move to K22, let's put Fang in J22.[/sblock]
ooc: I believe a single 20' move can only get Anvuss as far as k19, so Anvuss can't move and attack this round. Therefore, he will full defend and move to k19. His current (buffed) AC of 21 will temporarilly increase to 25.
Seat moves closer to the book and the robed man. Upon closer inspection, the young man's face appears haggard, and it looks as though he hasn't been eating or sleeping much. When Seat asks about his health, the young man continues with his packing, shakes his head vigorously from side to side (indicating a no to Seat's question) and mumbles repeatedly, "Have to pack, have to leave, there's a deadline. Have to pack, have to leave..."
Shoot and Fang file into the room, eyes wary.
Anvuss enters the room cautiously, taking up position at K19

Tali moves in to J19 and takes a swing at the skeletal body of the black veiled "woman". His strike pentrates cloth, but glances sharply off of bone.
The cultist on the floor continues to wail. He rolls up to his knees, and clutches his head in his hands. His hood falls back to reveal a gruesome sight. The cultist appears to be William (one of the cultists that attacked you at Professor Reeger's laboratory), but his ink-stained features are drastically changed. His hair has been replaced by the rippling tentacles of one of the flying heads, and his ears appear to be growing rapidly into leathery bat wings. His glassy eyes close and he says, almost peacefully, "Thank you master." As soon as those words escape his lips, his eyes snap open, the small bat wings elongate with a popping, crackling noise, and he begins to scream. His keening increases in pitch, and there is a loud tearing sound, as though wet cloth were being ripped apart as William's hands tear his transformed head free from his body. The body falls limply to the floor, and with a loud beat of it's wings, the flying head's mouth distends to inhuman lengths and the scream becomes all too familiar. (Fortitude Save, DC 12 everyone (except Anvuss and Shoot), paralyzed for 2d4 rounds if you fail).
The yellow robed man picks up another stack of paper, and halfway to the crate, he stops in place, apparently unable to move.
The black veiled woman's body continues to pack the crate, oblivious to it's attackers.
Combat, Round 2:
From within one of the large cauldrons, and strange sight levitates up. An ornate metal frame holds a clear glass canister (about 2 1/2 to 3 feet high), inside which is what looks like a brain floating in a bubbling fluid. The brain in a jar rises up towards the ceiling (The ceilings are 10' high), and then a telepathic voice like rotting flesh oozes through your minds. "You will cease in this foolishness! I am Bryllys, lord of knowledge, conqueror of undeath, and the master of this complex. You will terminate your pitiful assault and assist me in my work, or you will serve me as an undead slave, I care not which."
[sblock=Seat]A chime rings in Seat's ears. Bryllys' voice echoes in his mind as it says, "Take the codex of bone to the black carriage in the loading dock to the north." (Please make a DC 16 Will save, or feel compelled (as per suggestion) to take the book to the carriage.) If you are paralyzed, you'll still need to make the save, but you can happily ignore the suggestion until your paralysis wears off.[/sblock]

OOC: Fort save 15+4=19! I was literally on the edge of my seat for that one. Did NOT want to fail!
IC: Raven hardly notices Bryllys, intent as she is on the Vargoule's birth. Disgusting. Raven has developed quite an aversion to these flying heads. She takes a 5 foot step towards the newly-birthed creature, and lays into it with her sword. As usual, she attempts a feint to draw it off guard before homeing in with a downward slash.
OOC: bluff +5; to hit +3; dmg 1d8+2; sneak; not using combat expertise. Rolls: 19 for bluff, 13 for to hit 9 dmg 2 sneak dmg. I came back to this page to view my results, as I'd forgotten my damage. This automacially rerolls, I guess, so she has another set of rolls about 1 minute after this one I've linked to.
