Heart of Artifice Temporary 2--Aethelus Alone

"Thanks for that, I most likely owe my life to you now. Let's meet these benefactors and see if they know anything about what has gone on." says Aethelus standing up to go find anyone in the house he is in.

"Hey, I owe my life to you too chief. As you said, you made me and you can probably just take me apart. Maybe now we're closer to even."

*Looking around, Aethelus and Lana see a pretty green-eyed female woman/construct/whatever-these-people-are busy tending the common room.*

"Hey, thanks again Ms. Liliara," Lana greets the woman.

"Oh, it isn't any trouble," Liliara replies with a dismissive wave, "So many strange travelers these days...But I am deeply troubled by the Baron's assault on the most holy Leywytch Jadishtai. Why would the Baron do such a thing? You know, I've heard that a murderous treacherous Rogue Spark kidnapped the Baron's daughter and held her hostage and forced him to do it--what do you think?"

Aethelus ignores the obvious fact that this woman is non-chalantly talking to a little flying construct and replies, "I had heard that a rogue spark was the cause of much trouble to the Baron, the loss of his daughter however is something that I had not come across. It is most distressing that such villany would disrupt the tranquility of Spira. Apologies for not introducing myself, Ms. Liliara, I am Aethelus and very thankful for your ministrations."

"Oh, you're welcome, Mr. Aethelus."

"As to the Baron's daughter, nobody heard about it until the rumours started flying after the sudden combat. It was terrifying to watch, really--it's something like being in the position of a helpless child watching a violent assault between your beloved parents. Fortunately, the Leywytch Jadishtai made sure to carefully selectively target the cannons without hurting anyone, and it seems like everyone is safe now."

"As I understand it the Leywytch returned to the docks after the fire fight. Has there been any movement from the ship? Has she returned to the Baron's palace?"

"I'm really not sure. I think the Leywytch Jadishtai's floating castle is still in place. She's probably back in the palace now that the fighting is over--I hope everything's going to be all right! Oh dear, do you think it isn't?"

"Yes, nobody did. At first, we thought it must just be some kind of show or fireworks display. It took a while for what was happening to sink in. Hey, maybe it was a test of the emergency defense systems or something like that?"

"Doesn't sound like it was too successful if the Leywitch managed to remove all of the cannons. I thank you very much for your hospitality and care, Ms. Liliara. I doubt I'd be here if it weren't for your help."

"You're welcome, Mr. Aethelus. But you're a traveler, right? If you want to thank me, could you tell me your stories of far-away places? I've always dreamed of raising enough money to go visit somewhere far away."
