"Yes that might do, lets give it a shot." Retrieving the bolt from either Lana or his own pack where ever it is now, he holds it down in front of the dog, "Will this sample provide the necessary traces?"

"Action: Removing unwanted scent...Please wait..."

*After a short while.*

"...Assertion: Trail found. Query: Pursue?"

"Yes. Pursue at pace with the rest of us."

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Action: Pursuing."

*The dog pursues the path, which winds through the city, at times becoming circuitous enough to the point that it must have been designed to throw off pursuit. Then the trail leads out into a highly well-traveled square near the north end of the city.*

"Assertion: Trail lost. Query: Attempt to regain?"

"Yes." then to the others, "We may need to pick up one of the other trails if this doesn't work. Our quarry are quite adept at avoiding pursuit."

 

[Rystil Arden]

*After several hours (it takes an hour to retry tracking on a failure when you need to relocate the trail), the dog finds the trail again.*

"Assertion: Trail recovered. Action: Tracking..." the dog follows the trail.

*Heading back out of the square in a different direction, the trail takes the five of them all the way to the edge of the city and then out onto the meadows on the edge of the island, before it disappears at the edge.*

"Assertion: Trail ends here."

"Meh, probably hopped a flyer here."

"Hmm, there is no way over the edge, correct?"

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Not except by flying or falling," Arioch agrees.

 

[Erekose13]

"This would appear to be a dead end then. If we assume that the other trails similarly end, then we are left with little to follow. We should see if another of the trails leads somewhere more interesting before looking for other clues. Though perhaps there is something else here." He conducts a thourough search of the area to see if he can find any more information from this location, he'll also engage his automated hound to do the same.

 

[Rystil Arden]

"Assertion: All three trails end here," the dog pronounces.

*They don't find anything else that provides any new evidence. It seems quite likely that the simple solution is that the terrorists hopped a flyer here and left the floating island with the city of Mousai on it.*
