Heavy Metal RPG anyone?

You could probably play a Heavy Metal campaign in HERO, GURPS, RIFTS, M&M, Torg, and a few others right now... Gamma World, perhaps?

But it would be kind of cool to see if someone could come up with a dedicated game for it.

Ironically, it seems to me that in 4e Taarna would be an Avenger, not a Defender - 'cloth' armour, dedicated & vengeful, mean up close in melee...

BTW I do think the OP is onto something with the "multi genre" or "multi world" idea - a Heavy Metal RPG would need to avoid like the plague the kind of extensive world-building that most GMs seem to default to, while focusing heavily on 'mood & feel'.

I have the 4e DCC "Death Dealer: Shadows of Mirahan", which is quite Metal. Ironically the inspirational Death Dealer - Shadows of Mirahan comic is much less 'Metal', probably because what we see of the threatened setting is more Tolkien twee-fantasy than swords & sorcery. And the female character is fully clothed.

Well the Heavy Metal universe would have to be more than just a generic RPG universe, it has to have its own style, having the "metal" look as S'mon stated.

Heavy Metal is more than umlauts....

Side note: I have decided to design a board game dealing with the trials and tribulations of becoming a world-touring, platinum-selling Heavy Metal band. I will call it..."ÜMLÄÜT!"
