Heavy weapons

I recently remember reading about "heavy weapons". These were weapons made of gold, lead, etc. d8 did 2d6 etc. However, you needed to take a feat so not to incur a penalty. I do not remember where I saw this. Has anyone heard/read this and what do you think, more importantly...can you give me the source?

Heavy weapons are listed in Magic of Faerun. The section on special materials is at the back after the magic items. Heavy weapons are basically treated as one size larger for purposes of damage.

...and require an exotic weapon proficiency for the specific weapon or suffer the non-proficiency.

...and note that you'll suffer an encumbrance penalty, for carrying around that gigantic sig line.

Or you can use them in two hands without the feat if they are your size or smaller. (So a heavy longsword is a greatsword w/o it).
