heighten spell help

Heighten spell are supposed to heighten a spells effective level.. but if i apply it to a fireball, does it then also increase the damage dealt from the fireball?

No, it would increase the DC to avoid it though. The fireballs damage depends on the caster level of the caster, not the level of the spell.

I houserule it to do so because Heighten sucks, but RAW, it just increases DC / counts as higher level (concentration DC; if it can pierce a globe of invulnerability; is a lesser metamagic rod can be used on it or not; etc... note most of these are BAD side effects).

Highten only increases DC. If you want numeric increase, even over the limit, you will want Reserves of Strength (Dragonlance CS).
