Held and reflex saves

Does a held monster receive a reflex save? You can Coupe de Gra (sp?) one and it doesn't get a save......

Does the creature just have a 0 dex (-5) or shouldn't it be allowed a save. I would think you would have to be able to move to get a save. Let me know what you think.

I'd so no save. Kinda hard to dodge something when you can't move.

But then again, that's logical, and everyone knows logic has no place in D&D :D

I'd point you to the rule that says no Reflex save if you don't have enough room to move, but people would tell you "the rule's in the wrong place, so it doesn't count".

Another question is, do surprised characters get a reflex save, and if they do, do they get to add their dexterity modifier (which the can't add to their AC)?

Hmmm... strange that you can dodge a fireball, but not an arrow or sword blow when you are surprised.

As far as held characters are concerned, I'd not grant them a reflex save.

Same as how you can dodge a fireball but not an arrow or sword blow when you're wearing half-plate...
