Hell in Freeport

Well I guess you and I just disagree fundamentally on "scripted" modules.

I think people are throwing the baby out with the bathwater when they hear a module's scripted.

Its taking on the same effect as when people say Munchkin. Munchkin = Power Gamer = Bad. Always? Or Like when people say Gygax = D&D = Great. Always? Scripted has a negative connotation now, and I think that's unfortunate. People are becoming less willing to look any deeper. Not you...you're thourough with your reviews, but some are getting hung up (kind of like me now) on the "scripted" thing. Anyway...keep on reviewing. I like what you have to say.

Fair enough, Rock. I think the next product will have to be something I'm fond of...don't want to get pigeon-holed as a nattering naybob of negativism.

Just a couple of notes:

* It may not be set in Freeport, but since the entire plot revolves around saving Freeport, the title isn't that misleading...

* Freetown was actually introduced back in some of the 2e stuff - maybe Chris' own Guide to Hell? I'm not sure.

* The prison segment isn't as railroaded as you claim - there's actually details on a couple of other ways to get out of the prison besides the gladiatorial combat, and advice to the DM on which way works best for which kinds of parties.

* The NPCs that have prestige classes all have enough information for you to use them in the module - the Focus on Freeport downloads are only needed if you want the complete details of the classes.
