Help for an Origins Neophyte?

As for other things to expect;
No sleep - 4 days of con = 4 days of hard core gaming. Sleep before and after the con, not during. ;)

Don't do this. Get some sleep. You will be better for it and other people will enjoy having you around more. Make sure you sleep, eat, and bathe.

But, If you're thinking about getting into a "living system" to play at cons, then I highly and heatily recommend the Blackmoor MMRPG (www.DABlackmoor.com)... It _just_ launched at MegaCon down here in florida and I played the initial 4 modules and had a blast!
Does this mean the Blackmoor events that are listed are a "living" campaign? What organization do you have to be in to play? This is one of the games I am interested in!

(BTW, just a note to tell you I love the updates and the work you guys at CMP have been doing. I'll be ordering some more next week, and I can't wait for Sharn to get done!)

I must sleep! I'm just too old to "run with the young dogs" anymore. :(

Sleep is good. Food is good. ;) Bathing is a godsend!! :)

Addendum to the costuming "rules": males shall NOT wear pink nurses uniforms!!! (I saw a guy do that at an anime con a few years ago. The only thing worse was that he WORE THAT SAME DAMN OUTFIT ALL WEEKEND!!!   ::blows brain out with bullet-less gun:: ::BANG!::)

And, yes, ya gots to wear yer steenkin' badge..... ;) They provide clips but lanyards are much cooler!!!

And don't forget to follow the con rules. Better for you. Better for them. And, more importantly, better for you! As you won't get tossed out, no refund.

Have fun! :D :D

DO eat and sleep. Every year someone doesn't, and every year that person has a trip in an ambulance.

Sign up for games you want to play. If all the slots were full and you don't have anything else planned at that time show up with a couple of open tickets and try to fill a no-shows slot.

Open games and pick up games are fun, play some.

Just across high street from the convention hall is a bar called Barleys. Good micro-brews excellent burgers and I'm addicted to their sourkraut balls. Behind that by one block is a market with all kinds of good food and some of it is cheap. It's a great place to eat, rest, and take a brain break from the con.

I'm not sure how much more info we can give you other than the advice posted on this thread and my linky in my earlier post.... ;)

Anything SPECIFIC you're wanting to know? This may narrow things down a bit....

Sorry, long day at work. I guess my big question (and I don't know if anyone can answer here or not) is how long does it take to get badge info to sign up for games? The registration is not set up yet (lucky for me!) but it seems to say that it will take some time before your info is emailed, and I would hate to pay the money only to be shut out of the opportunity to play!

Has anyone got a timeline of about how long it took your badge purchase to be processed?

I'm really not sure. I always arrange to pick mine up there. The pre-registration line is never very long (especially Wednesday and early Thursday) and the event tickets and badge are all there waiting for me. Also, that way I know I won't lose them before I even get there. I have to recommend that way of dealing with it, honestly.

Thanks for the reply, though that isn't exactly what I meant. Pcking up the badges is not the problem. Getting the email back with the info the to be able to register for games is what I'm worried about. The Origins site says they are working through the purchases from January, but there is no indication of how far they are, when this was posted, or what the timeline is. I'm afraid that game registration will open and I won't have my info to be able to sign up for events when it goes live (which is supposed to be this week!).

I'm probably just paranoid, and everything will work out fine. :uhoh:
