Help me break in my 3.5 books! (3.5 Q&A)

Is there a central skill synergy table? (I figure I can ask this everywhere until someone answers or I buy the bleeping books.)

I also have the 3.5 books, and the answer is yes. There is a nice table that tells you what synergy bonuses apply to what and the ranks needed. In addition, knowledge skills got a lot more useful, they are on this table too, and 5 ranks in a knowledge gives you a bonus to something else, in addition, they also help you determine DCs, like if you wanted to know something about a golem, they tell you how to determine the DC for the knowledge arcana roll.

However, the 5 ranks in knowledge religion is most interesting, it yields a +2 bonus on turning checks......

can you say.."dusted" ? :)

1. The Compiled List includes the spell "Heroism" on the list of 2nd-level Bard spells. Could you explain what this is? It isn't in my PH at all, so it must be a new or borrowed spell...

2. Bards can now ignore ASF in light armor, but what about a buckler? Does the bard's ability to ignore ASF extend to a buckler, or is the bard still stuck with 5% ASF?

Target gains +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks. Range touch, duration 10 min./lvl, Brd 2, Sor/Wiz 3.

"However, like any other arcane spellcaster, a bard wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component (most do)."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the umber hulk use to only have 8 HD?

The new MM has several examples of "advanced" monsters, to give DM's read made examples of how things can be made bigger and scarier. Thus Horrid Umber Hulk appears alongside its normal smaller brother.

Other examples include the Nessian Warhound (12d8 hell hound), Harpy Archer (7th Fighter harpy specialised in bow), 9th Sorcerer Mindflayer, Troll Hunter (6th ranger), Celestial Charger (unicorn 7th cleric), Dread Wraith (16HD Large wraith). There are more.

Cheers

I noticed last night that now all hydras are Lernean hydras. That is, all hydras' heads regrow unless stopped via fire or acid. Plus, attacking a head is done as a sunder-- attack roll vs. attack roll, provokes AoO (unless attacker has Improved Sunder), etc. You can attack the body, but it has fast healing 10+# of heads. That's fast healing 22 for a 12 headed hydra.

No rules for attacking armor someone is wearing specifically (though you could apply the "attack an object" rules, I suppose).

Actually, you are specifically prohibited from attacking armor worn by someone else. p.158 last sentence of the Sunder section.

Its a bit odd though that they give armor hardness and hit points. I suppose its for those rare occasions when you've got the bad guy's armor on the ground in front of you and want to bash it to bits.

Heh. Now if only they'd bite the bullet and specifically prohibit you from attacking a weapon held by someone else. Called shots == teh b0rken.

As I understand it, the Whip is now a melee weapon. Could someone outline the exact specifications of the new 3.5 whip?

See the Compiled Revisions. Stats are the same, essentially, but it's now a finessable reach weapon that draws AoOs when used.

MoVal, eh Lord Pendragon? I graduated from MVHS!
