Help me design an Ancient Drow Temple

First Post
Hey,

I was hoping I could get some help in designing an ancient drow temple, as per the title of the thread. If you're interested in why go here and see what my players have been up too:

Hot Dark Elven Action

Basically one of the Kobolds that they met up with in the arena, had accidently stumbled upon a secret door and found a half a metal disk, with a spider imprint on it. They'll likely be heading off to investigate.

What I plan on doing with the temple is to have the players view visions of the past as they enter a new room in the temple, culminating in the the final room with a portal, where they will witness basically the creation of the drow themselves. My premise is that the drow are an offshoot of the elves that delved too deep in the dark arts and were seduced by Lloth herself. The portal will be where they were trying to actually bring Lloth onto this plane, but were foiled by the good elves. The leader of the now drow will be excuted and his followers will be banished to spend enternity under the ground. The temple itself will be sealed up, until a little kobold accidently finds his way in.

Things that I'm looking for:

Ideas about what other rooms could show, like tortures, creation of fantastic creatures.

What other intersting things could I show my players?

I plan on having the axe that killed the leader basically become an Evil, Intellegent weapon, basically with the leaders personality and hatred of elves. Any neat ideas I can use here?

Possibly have his body guards trapped alive inside the temple, becoming some sort of undead.

Any ideas for me?

ok visions visions....
Cells in which the rotted remains of prisoners, good elves, dwarves, gnomes lie. Visions of them dying horribly.

Living walls in the dungeons, in which the souls of the slain scream for eternity.

Ghosts that warn about the axe, obliquely of course.

Kitchens-Ghosts wandering about cooking things, or perhaps a full hallucination of a baquet being prepared.

Dining room- visions of boisterious drow eating, while watching some vile floor show (um.... welll go from there, sometimes my imagination is too sick for words)

Main hall, visions of past drow nobility, secretly worshipping Lloth.
High-Priest's bed-chamber: a feeling of sticky evil, filled with all of the negative emotions: hate, anger, lust, pride, fear etc.

The arena: full gladitorial battles to the death. Think ancient rome, only with bugbears and spiders.

Rooms full of spiders and scorpions. Runes that reek of despair. Crazy rooms that devour the unwary. Think if somebody has done alot of crazy-magical things in a room, you will have a crazy-magical room.

Thanks for the help so far!

Now I know how to get Eric to respond to something, just throw the words Drow or Underdark somewhere in the title! He must have some sort of Drowish, underdarkish Fetish. That explains a lot!

Thanks so far, any other takers?

Heh ... I did a lot of research and prep for an Underdark campaign a few years ago ... which ended fairly early on due to a TPK!

Come on now, Eric can't be the only one with a Drow Fetish?

I know there are some closet Drizzit Fans out there just waiting to be heard.

Hit me with your best shot!

lol. i don't even read forgotten realm books. played baldur's gate a few times tho, that's about it. ;)

i just have a really, really evilly expressive imagination. ^_^
ooo. a cell containing a bardic elf-ghost singing really, really foul elvish ditties. usually insulting his captors. (he knows he's dead and maybe once they open the cell, the elf-ghost follows them around._(_

Poltergiest activity is always fun. especially when the entire contents of the room go flying.

singing animated statues (aka disney's haunted mansion)

rooms dripping with blood.

hallways that go nowhere or end in a mural of a monster that becomes real when touched.

chandaliers made of human bone.

possessed toilets or chamber pots

O.K.

I've managed to keep my players away from this bad boy for another week, so there has to be someone out there with some good ideas?

Right?

By the way thanks for the ideas so far!

I promise I'll update you guys with what happens!!
