Help me fit a new pantheon into different settings

I'm working on a new pantheon, based on the mythology and culture of New Zealand. A draft can be found here (pdf), or in the Downloads section.

Right now, I am working on the "How To Use This Document" section. My goal is to have some tips and suggestions for fitting this pantheon into different game worlds, like Forgotten Realms, Kulan, Burning Sky, Dragonlance, and Eberron. The trouble is, I don't know these game worlds well enough to do them justice. And while the product was originally created for 3rd Edition, I would love to get some feedback on how it could be modified to fit the 4th Edition game and its Points of Light setting.

If you use a published game setting and have some ideas on how and where the Fire Islands pantheon would fit into it, I could really use your help. So far, I only have notes for the Mystara setting:

[SBLOCK=Mystara]
Mystara
In the Mystara game setting, there is a cluster of islands south of the city of Specularum, in the Sea of Dread, called the Thanegoith Archipelago. This large chain of tropical islands would be an ideal setting for the Fire Islands pantheon.

This archipelago is also the setting of module X1: The Isle of Dread. In this adventure, each of the village shamans could be devoted to one of the seven major deities of the Fire Island pantheon (Rangi, Papa, Haumia, Rongo, Tāne, Tū, and Tāwhiri.) The fallen temple on the islands mainland could be filled with ancient relics devoted to these same gods...and the forgotten race of kopru could be worshippers of Hine, Mahuika, or Whiro.[/SBLOCK]

Dragonlance I think is just right out for including a new pantheon. DL is fairly dependent on having the core DL pantheon with no others. DL does however have a possible inclusion point, using the Fire Island pantheon as an overlay of the DL pantheon for a different culture. Different cultures and races in dragonlance call the same gods by different names and have different views and legends about them.

This is difficult however as the DL pantheon is divided along alignment lines to create a cosmic balance and have spheres and portfolios very different from the Fire Island ones. For instance I'm not sure where the three moon gods of magic would map to a fire island one. There is an evil sea goddess who rules envy and has the form of a dragonturtle, I'm not sure if she would be the sea god or the storm one.

DL deity concepts IMO:
Takhisis - Evil
Sargonnas - Vengeance
Morgion - Disease
Chemosh - Undeath
Hiddukel - Greed/Trickery
Zeboim - Sea/Envy/Storms
Nuitari - Evil Magic

Paladine - Good
Kiri Jolith - Courage/Justice
Mishakal - Healing
Branchala - Song
Habakuk - Animals
Majere - Law/Enlightenment
Solinari - Good Magic

Gilean - Knowledge
Reorx - Crafting
Chislev - Nature
Zivilin - Plants
Shinare - Orderly business
Sirrion - Flame
Lunitari - Neutral Magic

There is also the High god who created everything, Chaos who was second to the High god but above the 21 god pantheon.

Current DL has Takhisis dead and paladine gave up his divinity to balance that out.

So I'd go:

Whiro - Morgion
Tu - Sargonnas
Tiniaru - Habakuk
Tiki - Paladine
Tahwiri - Zeboim
Tane - Zivilin
Tangaroa - Chislev
Rongo - Shinare
Maui - Hiddukel/Reorx
Mahuika - Sirrion
Hine - Chemosh
Haumia - Habakuk
Papa - Chislev/Takhisis
Rongi - Paladine?

I'm sure there are islander types somewhere in Krynn (the world of Dragonlance) but I'm not sure where.

Note that as an OGL thing it can't without a separate license agreement really reference the non open trademarked stuff like trademarked FR or DL . You could make a separate fan document outside the OGL for that type of thing easily enough though I'd think.

Excellent point...I'll be sure to put the trademarked stuff in the "Not Open Content" section, and maybe list the trademarks as well. Thanks for the heads up!

In the Eberron setting, a likely spot for the Fire Islands would be one of the tropical island chains between Khorvaire and Xen'drik.

The vassals of the Sovereign Host would consider the Fire Islands' gods as aspects of their own deities. For synchronistic pairings I'd say:

Rangi - Aureon
Papa - Boldrei
Haumia - Olladra
Hine - the Keeper
Mahuika - the Fury
Maui - the Traveler
Rongo - Onatar
Tangaroa - Arawai
Tane - Balinor
Tawhiri - The Devourer
Tiki - Kol Korran
Tinirau - Dol Arrah
Tu - Dol Dorn & the Mockery
Whiro - the Shadow

The Io sect might be the result of interaction between island natives and Church of the Silver Flame missionaries. Both are focused on devotion to a single gestalt entity.

Dragonlance...

The Payan Mako, on Taladas.

In the Eberron setting...
Thanks for your input, guys...this is awesome stuff. I've updated the document to include this info, and I have added a blurb for including this pantheon in three different campaigns (Dragonlance, Eberron, and Mystara.) There are plenty of others that I would love to include, though.

And campaign settings aside, if anyone has any experience with integrating new gods into existing game settings, I'd love to pick your brain.

In other words, bump. :)
