Help Me Name My Character?

doctorbadwolf

Heretic of The Seventh Circle
She’s a Human* Artificer, street kid in Waterdeep for a campaign my friend is starting.

They go by Kid, but I want her given name to be embarrassingly pretentious and/or femme.

Thing is, I also want it to be a Realmsian name.

Any ideas?

Not sure if they will be Realmsian enough for you, but consider the following:

Ardaneth
Syanthia
Beryllith
Tanarysia
Tanarytha
Saratha
Mellorna

If you were looking for a last name as well, not sure I can help you. From what I know, family names are all over the place for the realsms. Some are only related to profession (Paladinson), some are just other names added together (most of the Seven Sisters). Is there a noble family or two you might be dealing with in the campaign you know about?

Cheers :)

Love Mellorna. Strong middle name contender.

Yeah, I’m hoping a Realms scholar will see the thread and help me out on the last name. I wonder if the candlekeep forums are still active, actually.

Well we are doing a modified Dragon Heist with Acquisitions Inc stuff added in, so there are the Cassalanter or however it’s spelt.
Painful! A strong contender!

You should be able to search up the 70 (?) Noble Families of Waterdeep and get a flavor of what her last name could be.

First name: Sayonara.
(Must be spoken deadpan for best effect.)

Yeah first that springs to mind is Roaringhorn.

Anyone know if the common folk have similar names to the nobility in the Sword Coast?

Thasselandra

Mellorna

Crysthanthemum (lots of flower names)

Braerindra

Constantia

Rosaline

Amorathna

Bonnebelle

Parincia
Parincia's nice. I might steal that one sometime. The rest make me think first of Hobbit women, rather than Human. :)

@Omand 's list above has some good ones too.

A few I've used or am using that might suit:

Zarine
Sayetha
Xamela
Raphosa
Desati
Rakainna
Yasmina

That said, what distinguishes "Realms" naming conventions from any other?

Take on the family name of the devil-worshipping nobles from the Waterdeep book- the Cassenlanters(sp). This gives a reason to hide the name and the DM a reason to introduce other elements into the campaign. Maybe she is a lost niece or such and other groups want to find her for whatever reason.
