i was going to release it as .pdf but its no real expense to me because iam using a print on demand service, so when some one orders if off my website the printer prints it up and mails it out. I plan on releasing a lite version, sort of like they release teaser chaperts for novels. People can check out the art work and the monsters and see if they would like to buy the full product.

Oh okay, cool.

Yeah iam doing the art for the book as well, iam doing pretty much everything. Art, Layout, Monsters, ect. ect.

I know what thats like from first hand experience.

*strong bad voice* Ursugon, eh? */strong bad voice*

:D

sounds like a cool name, i was thinking of calling it Bandar, but Ursugon is indeed a cool name. As far as making it a devil, i was thinking along the lines of a polymorph spell gone wrong or even a dire bear being cross bread with dragon.

It could be a hairy dragon instead of a scaly one. ;)

Hiya Gez matey! :)

Oursogon would be more in-line with other devil names. :)

How so? :p

As for the title...

Critters & Constructs
Mythical Monsters
Manual Of Monstrous Abominations
Awful & Atrocious Beasts & Brutes

You know Beast Bible is the one that stands out in the crowd! :D

How so? Simple.

Barbazu, Gelugon, Cornugon are closer to French than to Latin. :) And Malebranche is a French family, not a latin one (Nicolas de Malebranche is a reasonnably famous classic philosopher and mathematician).

Hence, devils have French-looking name (exceptions are the names without etymology, like bezekira, and the Advespa who is clearly Italian).

Interesting point you raise. Perhaps the suffix of 'gon' denotes a large devil whereas 'zu' denotes a medium sized devil?

...though I still like Ursugon best. :p

Indeed.

I wonder has anyone ever done a hairy dragon before?

Its not totally necessary, though it won't hurt. Anything you post on the web is automatically copyrighted, if someone tries to pass it off as their own work you can legitamately sue them for damages.

Names are very important for monsters! A good name can make an average monster seem great and a poor name can make a good monster seem poor.

Also sometimes its good to have two names for a monster; one common, one esoteric.

eg. Hellcat (Bezekira)

So you could call your monster:

Hairy Devil (Ursugon).

I always think people with beards have something to hide, and not necessarily sagacity. :p

Yes. Michael Ende. :)
Also, one of the Lung Dragons is sphinx-like.
