Help me pick a character

Or how about this?

Dwarven ranger 1/barbarian 1/fighter 4/exotic weapon master 3 with Exotic Weapon Proficiency (spiked chain), Weapon Focus (spiked chain), Weapon Specialization (spiked chain), Power Attack, Combat Reflexes, Combat Expertise, Improved Trip; Favored Enemy (human), Exotic Reach, Flurry of Strikes, Uncanny Blow. Str 16+1+1, Dex 12, Con 14+2, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 10-2. You can get more Dex (for Combat Reflexes) with gloves of dexterity.

Other good feats for later: Cleave, Extra Rage, Iron Will.

I like this one and may use it. Although, change the Combat Reflexes to Weapon Specialisation and Extra Rage (we never have more than one combat a day) to Extend Rage and it may be worthwhile. ;)

Hey, Combat Reflexes is a key feat to make this character nasty in combat, I wouldn't drop it. The rather low Dex is no matter, 2 AoO per round and the ability to make AoO while flat-footed is more than enough! :)

You have only one combat in a day, ever? Ok, I can see how Extra Rage is no good then...

I'd just drop Extra Rage for Weapon Specialization then.

With this particular GM, yeah. But that's just one of many things I dislike about his game.

In fact, I don't know how much longer I'm going to continue playing in his game.... Just not so much fun anymore.

Normally i dont multiclass at all, and if i do, its with +1 or +2 classes at the most (i mgiht take 2 if im level +15)

the #2 choice just seems tooooo multiclassed 4 classes within 9 levels.. but well its your call.

I have been playing a windwalker since November 2003. I love the class and it's a lot of fun. It balances out because divine spells do not have the damaging power of arcane. Divine spells are mostly defensive, healing, and combat boosting. So a good cleric needs high base attack bonus in order to do damage. The saves for Windwalker are weak and worse than a normal cleric. The skill requirements are strange and the god Shaundakul has few followers. Most people prefer stronger gods with better powers such as Mystra, Shar, Selune, Kelemvor, Lathander, Cyric, Tyr, and Chauntea.
Plus all the traveling my character has done in his time is ridiculous. Some D&D players would hate me because i always have to help travelers and do missions for my god. I usually need help because it's way too much to handle on my own. So the campaign can get side-tracked because of my character. Sometimes i even have to give up valuable items or large amounts of money to help people. In the end, it all balances out, trust me. I love the Windwalker, but it takes a lot of work and dedication to play this character.

I think the ones you have are pretty nice, but you don't sound enthusiastic about them. You could still have a little fun. Your DM is obviously letting you use Psionics in the campaign, so...

Why not play a Half-Giant Fighter, Psychic Warrior, Ranger or Cleric. Use a Sword & Board construction style, spike the shield and take 2 weapon fighting and Improved Shield Bash. He'll use oversized weapons (including the shield spikes), and eventually he can add the Bashing enchantment to the shield and so forth to the shield spikes (check out the Asuras Shield in BoED- it all stacks!) for an off-hand weapon that will equal the damage output of a bastard sword.

If you go with Cleric, take any 2 of the Strength, War, or Destruction domains.

And as a natural Psionic, the Half-Giant will be able to take certain psionic PrCls, like the deadly Pyrokineticist, even without any levels in a Psionic class. Just 4 (?) levels of that and he'll be able to make his weapon flame at will, not to mention the firebolts!

My lack of enthusiasm is directly proportional to my GM's style of play.

He's a friend, and we've been gaming together for 6 years now, but I completely dislike his way of handling D&D. It's too much the 'kill and hoard' mentality of the guys I gamed with when I was thirteen. And, you know, it was cool at that age. Now I want some actual game and not 'kill them and take their stuff'.

But, ah well. Considering the events of last night, I doubt I'll be participating in his games anymore.:(

good DMs are hard to find

i hear ya man. Good DMs are hard to find. most of them just want big battles and nothing else. Well i'm the DM for a group and they love it! I make hard battles but i also have lots of Role-playing elements. i love NPCs and creating situations for players to deal with. i love imitating voices and acting as multiple NPCs. It's hard for a DM to do these things without feeling a bit goofy or gay. but in the end, it adds more fun and realism to the game. I enjoy it, but most DMs rather have big battles.

I'm confused. According to the Masters of the Wild, the Exotic Weapon Master requires Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat for any three weapons. Where is this addressed in these builds?
