Help me to kick lots of ass

Elf friendly? I'd say stick with an elven wizard.

Tom my good man I'd go with K.R.'s pimp hat (with lots of pink leapard print) for you & Jeremy's mage plan slightly modified to include a multiclass to a Archmage at 14th to 19th levels in place of your standard wizard 14th to 19th levels. Why be a just a party "wizard" when you could be the ARCHMAGE (insert monumental quazi awe inspiring music score here)

Can you dig!

Indeed I can!

Last night I created the exact character you describe. Those High Arcana powers kick the mighty butt. Plus, with 580,000 gp to spend on magical goodies, I picked up a keen longsword +5 of speed, a belt of giant strength, bracers +8, ring of protection +5, ring of wizardry III, robes of the archmagi (I'd say those are required), rod of absorption, cloak and boots of elvenkind, scads of healing, necklace of adaptation, etc., etc. etc., and finally, etc.

But I'm also just about done creating a straight-up, old-school, 19th level monk...and I'm really wondering which is the better choice. Monks at 19th level are amazing otherworldly beings. They don't look like much...but you better run when they get in the hizzouse and start kicking it old-school.

edit: I feel like such a munchkin...I would honestly rather play 8th-10th level characters than 19th level uber-beings. Seems lame to me. Although we'll probably be facing things so amazingly hideous that I will be eating my words...
