First Post
Ok for the Christmas break our DM is going out of state for a couple of weeks. And I'm kind of nominated to do a one shot while he's gone. I was looking for recommendations on an adventure for D&D that can be run in 3-4 gaming sessions. Perferably 3.0 and something of a higher level would probably please my players. My group also perfers combat oriented adventures. Thanks for any help provided.

One thought I just had was maybe doing Dungeonland using the conversion for it. But I might save that for the full campaign I'm going to run.

Well, I don't have any specific modules in mind, but I'd save Dungeonland for what you're going to be doing on your own. It's got a lot of weird stuff in it, both for the PCs to get and for the PCs to endure. It might not sit well in the campaign if you're just doing a "guest shot".

There's a ton of free adventures on the WotC site, and some of them go up to 10th or 12th level. Most of them seem to be one-nighters, but you could probably strech one to two depending on the group. Or you could find two that you like and cram them together so that one leads to the other.

I've bought a lot of modules myself, but they tend to be less combative and more political, so I don't know that any would work for your group...

Well if you feel like hunting a dragon, I think Icy Death from the Free Downloads on WotC is still available. You might find it of use.

Malhavoc Press's 'Demon God's Fane' would be excellent as a one shot for several play sessions and it is for 13th level characters.

What's more, it can be bought as a PDF for under $10.

There was an adventure pack I had with 2 separate mini modules in it:

One was a fight against a machine that re-animates corpses (IIRC CL~6-8?) and another was involved getting around island full of cultists and minotaurs to stop the resurection of a lich lord (CL 8-10?).

Both were really good, simple fun. Enjoyed them a lot as fairly short adventures.

Unfortunately I can't remember who wrote them/what they were called... if anyone else can, I'd recommend them.

Epic of Nine

one of the first one shots we ever played (and now we have played hundreds) was eventualy refered to as the Epic of Nine, seeing as how there were a total of Nine pc's. there were only five players..but we had a few deaths. the synopsis of the adventure was that a very powerfull king called together all powerfull heroes in the land, this king was a half celestial gold dragon paladin and there was a problem in his kingdom, hell was trying to break in. He couldnt stop the invasion himself because of a curse that kept him bound inside of his palace. We were all famous heroes by then, cept my character who know one had heard of cause i was the head of the second largest assasins guild on the continent, but hey the king was desperate. basicaly we had to fight our way into a lost temple, overcoming harder and harder demons, untill the big climactic fight with an advanced balor, it was hight level high drama, but with our group we managed to put plenty of role playing into it...at one point my assasin was turned into a goat to stop me from killing a member of the party who had seen a symbol of insanity...hehe i remember lining up a death attack with my horn. The whole story actualy became history and legend in a serious campaign we played later, we were always mentioning the epic of nine hehe great fun.
