Fanged Shield of the Phase Spider -
This +2 large spiked (+1 weapon enhancement) shield is roughly a conic section in shape, being 3' long and 2' wide at the wide end, narrowing to six inches at the narrow where a wicked black spike emerges. The shield is crafted entirely from the remains of a phase spider: the main body of the shield is formed form the creature's carpace, the spike being a fang and straps and the two longsword-sized sheaths set into the back of the shield being typicaly made of phase-spider silk. It has the following special powers (all supernatural):
3/day: The wielder can duplacate the effects of the spell strand (1st caster level). The strand of web flys from a small 'spool' wrapped about the base of the shield's spike, the wielder can casue the strand to detach as a free action at any time (if someone else grabs it and yanks on their turn, for instance).
2/day: The wielder can phase to the etheral plane as a move-equivelent actoion and remain there for up to ten rounds. As a free action they can leave the etheral and return to the material premeturaly.
1/day: As a standard action the wielder can make a melee attack with the spike. If they hit successfully hit they deal poison damage in addition to the normal damage (phase spider poison: primary and secondary damage 2d6 tempory Con, Save DC 15), if they miss the poison use for the day is still expended.
These shields are popular amoung Drow who fight with a weapon and a shield and, most are created with two matching drow-style adamintine longswords (not included in the market price).
Caster Level: (at least 11th); Prereq: Eatheral Jaunt, Poison, Strand or Web; Market Price: ; Cost to Create: ;
I was thinking around 20-40k GP market price, though I'm having a hard time nailing the price down exactily.
For refrence:
Strand
Conjuration[creation]
Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Close
Effect: 1 strand of silk
Duration: Instantinous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No
This spell creates and lashes forward a long stand of spider-like silk, sticky at the far end. You make a touch attack to attatch the web to an object or creature within range, if you miss the strand most likely something (DM's discression) else ans is stuck. Once stuck there's no way for the strand to be removed short of severing it (though the adhesive looses it's potency after about 1 hour).
You can use this to swing yourself across a chasam (with optamal placement of the strand you could cross a distance up to 1 1/2 times the strand's length), pull an object of up to 20 lbs. to you (it takes a move equivelent action to pull back up to 50' of the strand, or as a free action you can yank back 5') or use the strand as a whip. If functions exactily like a whip in these reguards (though one with greater range), in addition any special feats you have for a whip apply to the strand. However, when used as a weapon it suffers from a 15' range increment.
The strand has a hardness of 1 and 4 hit points. It's break DC is 20.
Material Component: A bit of spider silk. (verbal component : Humming the Indiana Jones Theme music is required to cross a chasim
