I like to roleplay, the rest of my group isn't very experienced to the concept. We all have a grand time together on the game nights, but I'm really the only one who has really even tried to roleplay. The others don't ,because like I said, they haven't been exposed to it. I think that If I (am able) to roleplay a character consistently the others will pick up on it. I know at specificly two of the group who have done roleplaying in other forms.
My problem is, I have trouble sticking to character with this group. Our dm insists on giving experience based on who kills what (I had a thread on it a while back,"help my dm see the light" or something). We talked to him about it,and for a while he changed to standard experience, but he has falled right back to where he was. I find sticking to a character concept hard to do, I find myself picking weapons/feats/multi classing just to keep up,at the sacrifice of character.
I know It would be fixed if my dm would stop giving experience out the way he does, and I am still working on that.
But since that may take a while, I'm also looking for suggestions on how to roleplay a character more fully. How to fletch out his personallity, fears, dislikes, motivations. I have trouble seeing my character as more than "Bob the fighter" sometimes.
In the past I have seen character questionairs...anyone know of any of these? (They asked stuff like what is your characters Favorite ^blank^, was is your characters least favorite ^blank^)
When you create a character, how do you go about filling in his details? Or do you just make it up as you play the character in a game?
Sorry if I ramble, but I really would like to roleplay more with the group im in,and to further there intrest I need to do a better job at it.
