I doubt this'll be very useful, but when I was a kid I alway thought King Hiss, from the Masters of the Universe, was quite freaky. I mean, he looks like a normal guy, and then his upper body...I don't know, explodes, and there's this stalk of writhing hissing serpents there, all attached to a pair of legs that still walk around! That certainly seems pretty Far Realm-ish to me!

Shade have you ever seen the Labyrinth of Madness a 2nd Edition product. It has yuan ti and the final enemy is a corrupted titan with snake features.

Trying fooling around with the Anthromorpic Template from Savage Species (snakes, toads, monitor lizards, giant crocodiles) then increase Hit Dice (I recommend Large or Huge at the minimum) and mix it up with class levels (especially psionics) and templates. (Those two you mentioned that you don't just want to slap on come to mind.)

Mix 'em and match 'em into groups and have them be at the beck and call of the yuan-ti. Throw in some unique special abilities like a trolls regeneration ability or the frightful presence special abilty, like that of dragons.

Do you have Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition? If so, and you haven't thought of using it yet, then this was a friendly reminder. There is stuff in there that will blow your players' minds. Also, Template Troves, Volume I: Serpents, Spiders & Godlings has some unique templates in it, that might be suitable, and it's only $6 at RPGNow.
