(Help) Tome and Blood's Bladesinger.....errata?

Bladesingers are in Races of Faerun, which is 3.5, and they are the same, with the exception that they can cast ANY arcane spell with a casting time of one action with Song of Celerity.

They forgot to do anything with the prereqs: 3 ranks in Perform, Sing and Dance needed. I'd just say Perform: Dance 2, Sing 1

Really? How did I not know this? I'm sure I saw some FR fan in the Player's Guide thread complaining about how there was no 3.5 Bladesinger just a whuile back.

Bummer they forgot to fix the prereqs but I think that your suggestion is a good one.

I'd change it to Perform (Sing) 2 ranks, Perform (Dance) 2 ranks. Maybe even 3 ranks each.

On a related note, has anyone played one of these? They were my favorite 2nd Edition class, and I was contemplating going that way again sometime in the future, but wasn't sure if they were any good. They certainly seem decent enough, but actual playtesting would probably tell you a lot more.

Yes. I played a bladesinger, even into epic levels. It was my first 3e-Character.

I first took Ftr5/Wiz1, then went 10 levels Bladesinger, after that I became Divine Champion of Corellon for 4 levels, and added 10 further levels of Epic Bladesinger. He was a moon elf.

The characer was totally awesome. Nevermind the one-handed style. This class has style. And the spells (which you can cast as a free round when you take a full attack action) are quite handy. Mirror Image saved me from a world of damage.

We expanded the spell list of the bladesinger a little, taking into account spells from other sources (Splatbooks, Forgotten Realms sources) and created some Epic Feats, too. Got that stuff lying around on my HD somewhere, if you're interested.

As we didn't have Races of Faerûn then, I played him with longsword and massive strength then. If I had the chance to play one again, I'd play Gold Elf Wiz 10/Bla 10 or something (or something involving Eldritch Knight if I felt cheesy), using more evocations to supplement the melee, and making him a Dex based rapier-wielder (hm... put some rogue or arcane trickster levels on top of that.... ;))
