Help with a Character idea

I tried to find the format someone was talking about for posting characters but didn't seem to be able too.

Galadel Siannodel Elf Ranger L2/Rogue L1; HD 2d8 + 1d6 +3; hp 16; Init +4; Spd 30 ft; AC 19 (Mithril Chain shirt); SA Sneak Attack +1d6; SQ Immune to sleep, +2 vs. Enchantments, Low Light Vision, Trapfinding, & Wild Empathy ; BAB +2; Graple +5; Melee +5; Ranged +6; AL CN; SV Fort +4, Ref +9, Will +3; Str 17, Dex 19, Con 12, Int 10, Wis 15, Cha 11.

Skills: 28 points; ranks (total); Hide 3 (+7), knowledge-nature 5, listen 4 (+8), move silent 3 (+7), search 4 (+6), spot 4 (+8), and survival 5 (+9). Feats: Weapon Finesse, Point Blank Shot, Track; Languages: Common & Elven

Equiptment: Backpack with waterskin, Bedroll, Flint and Steel, Lightblade (d6), Elvencraft Longbow/quarterstaff, Mithril Chain shirt, Sack, & Thinblade (d8).

The character is basically a scout for an Elven Lord of some kind. About to strike out and begin some adventureing on his own.

Does that help?

wow, thanks. So it is basiclaly the same format used in the books and supplements for NPC's and sample characters and such. That should be easy.

you have it all correct except:

Skills (38) Balance 6, Bluff 2, Climb 5, Disable device 1 (3 with thieves tools), Gather Information 1, Handle Animal 3, Hide 7 (9 with camoflage kit), Jump 5, Knowledddge Local 1, Knowledge Nature 5, Listen 7, Move Silently 6, Open Lock 4 ( 6 with thieves tools), Search 5, Spot 7, Tumble 5, Use Rope 5, Survival 5...I know there are a bunch of synergy bonuses to add in there...do you guys addd them right into your score on your charaacter sheets or write them down separately? any thoughts on these skills? I know some are really low but I think I will use them all at some point so these will be the ones I want.

For skills I was using Bront's suggestion, which included Ranger Skills, so I had the character as a ranger 1st level.

If you are Rogue 1st level the you get
8x4=32 skill points 1st level, +4 second level, +4 third level (no Int bonus) for a total of 40 points.

Personally I list it: # skill ranks (total # including bonuses), because you only get synergy if you have 5 ranks in a skill. judging from your skill list your totals should be something like this.

Skills 40 points: Balance 2 (+6), Bluff 2 , Climb 2 (+5), Disable device 1 (+3 MW thieves tools), Gather Information 1, Handle Animal 3, Hide 3 (+7, +9 with camoflage kit), Jump 2 (+5), Knowledge Local cc 1, Knowledge Nature 5, Listen 3 (+7), Move Silently 2 (+6), Open Lock 1 (+5, +7 MW thieves tools), Search 3 (+5), Spot 3 (+7), Tumble 1 (+5), Use Rope 1 (+5), Survival 2 (+6)

Not sure where 40 points comes from. I get 6x4 = 24 for 1st level Ranger, plus 6 at secondd level for 30, then add in 8 for 1st level Rogue for 38.

Ahh I didn't reaalize that about the synergy....that's ok though, gives me a priority for skill popint additions now. I went Ranger 1st for the 8 hp honestly, and not the skill points....maybe I should have done things different, but Ilike how he is turned out. One problem is that our party has another Rogue in it who also is taking two weapon fighting along with some feats so he can max out his sneak attacks and such. I am worried that having two members with two weapon fighting will soon get dull. I am thinking maybe I should have just taken the ranged combat option, and sprinkled in some melee feats instead. I like the Long Axe from The Complete Adventurer book. It is basically a great axe but if you use power attack to move at least two points fromhit to daamage, it becomes a reach weapon. Not very Elvish , I know, but if I am focusing on ranged, I like the thought of when things get close out comes this way huge axe and gets swung aroundd to clear some room. Of course then I would take Power attack instead of Weapon finesse.

Any thoughts on this?
By the way, I appreciate the assists here. I have been playing for quite a while but I already know what my party thinks and how they play so it is refreshing to get aa new perspective. We have the player who is alwayds dark and mysterious, and goes for cool factor over usefullness. ( ie I am not going to be the waalking band aid station with my druid so you guys are going to have to think up something else) We haave the super Min maxer playing aa rogue with one level of Barbarian..he will be the two weapon fighter aalong with me... and we have aa player new to Dnd ...well since 2nd ed anyway. She is playing a Fighter Wizard.

we rotate DM duties, I am up first or else things just won't get done. :D
