I dunno how heavy they are but they do (the big 12 tile set) come in a cardboard box with a handle. So, to those who may carry them, perhaps put them into a sturdier container before taking them (an old laptop bag might work nicely!) to a con. That box can only handle so much abuse before it starts tearing up, usually around the handle.
