Here's a really weird suggestion, if you still wish to fill a fighting role:
Go fighter, and for your feats take feats dealing with expertise, disarming, tripping, etc. - all the feats that rely on intelligence.
Then, use weapons that give bonuses to tripping and disarming - spiked chain, halberd, etc. - especially glaive, since it can be done at range.
Then, disorient the enemy as much as possible, while the rest of the party uses their talents to kill them off.
you could also go between this and levels of rogue, specializing in social skills.
