Help with New Weapon Sytle Feat

Datt

First Post
Okay. I have the Complete Warrior and notice that my current weapon style, dual battle axes, does not have a Weapon Style feat. I would like some help in creating one for those dual battle axe wielding people out there.

TWF with different kinds of weapons is weaker than TWF with two of the same weapons. This is because with the same weapons, you only need to take WF/WS(if you're a fighter) once. The Style feats power up different styles to encourage people to take them. For example, sword and dagger is a historic style. But noone ever uses it because sword/shortsword or 2 shortswords is better. So if you're going to make a style feat for two battleaxes, it should be less powerful. Since two seperate weapons uses up 1 or 2 extra feat slots, you should either give this feat high prereqs or make it weaker.

I run for a guy (an RPG convert, background of historical wargaming and WH40K) who plays a demonhunting Ranger with a longsword/dagger combo...I'm not sure if he does it because he thinks it's cool or it has historical precedent, or a mixture of both. I'll have to ask him some time.

I too was wondering why there wasn't any twin-weapon styles. I'm currently playing a dual-longsword fighter using this excellent alt.fighter found here.

However, after reading Mr. Mayhem's post, I have a different slant on things, thanks.

That is an excellent point I had never considered. However, were you to ignore this excellent advise and create one anyhow, I would suggest something similar in nature to Rend but much weaker. For instance, perhaps if both of your axes hit in a round you deal an additional d6 + str mod damage.

I too must say that is an excellent point. However WotC doesn't see it that way. However WotC thought enough about twin weapons to put Lightning mace in.

I wouldn't mind something like Two Weapon Rend, but I know that is an Epic feat and don't want to duplicate it. It seems like most of the other either confuse or daze the opponent for 1 round. So I am guessing something like that.

Heck, taking into account the advice (which is very good advice *tips hat*), I'd allow an even weaker version of rend, say +1d4 or +1d6 points (no bonus strength).

If Improved Disarm is made a prereq of a different style for dual-axex, I'd allow a bonus to disarm. If off-hand parry is part of the prereq, I'd probably allow an additional +1 deflection bonus to Armor Class while using off-hand parry, or something like that.

Lots of possibilities.
