Help with the "Mobile Spellcasting" feat.

Mobile Spellcasting allows a caster to cast a spell and move up to his normal move rate as a standard action. Would this feat be usable on a mount? Or would the fact that you are really not moving, but having your mount move, prevent you from using the feat? (That is my view.) Mind that is does not grant any extra actions.

You don't need the feat to have your mount move and cast a spell. You do, however, need to make a concentration check to cast a spell on the back of a mount. I forget the DC though: 20 + spell level I think (or is it 15 + spell level?).

Depends on how fast the mount is moving. The Concentration skill in the SRD includes these two DCs:

DC 10 Vigorous motion (on a moving mount, taking a bouncy wagon ride, in a small boat in rough water, belowdecks in a stormtossed ship).

DC 15 Violent motion (on a galloping horse, taking a very rough wagon ride, in a small boat in rapids, on the deck of a storm-tossed ship).

Strangely the spell level doesn't seem to come into play.

See the section titled Casting Spells while Mounted on p. 157 of the PHB. You can cast a spell normally (no concentration check) if your mount makes only a single move. If your mount makes a double move, a concentration check of DC 10 + spell level is required, and if the mount is running, the concentration check is DC 15 + spell level.

Thanks, Vorpal. I checked the online SRD I've been using and the Magic Overview section does have the info you describe, but the Concentration skill entry doesn't mention the spell level for these cases. Weird. This makes much more sense.

Glad I could help.

The SRD is not perfect. I've noticed a number of subtle omissions, typos, and other mistakes in this otherwise very useful resource. So I usually go back to the old-fashioned books when I want to be sure about something.
