D&D 5E Help

There are a few possibilities.

The cube is truly sentient and friendly. Maybe there's some kind of story behind it - it was polymorphed by an evil wizard or some such. If you kill it, the rest of the party will be pissed (rightfully so).

The cube is truly sentient and evil. Maybe it ate enough wizards and eventually gained sentience. However, until it proves that it's evil if you kill it before you prove that it's evil the party will be pissed (even if you are right). Your best bet is to talk to your DM and let him know you're keeping an eye on it.

The cube is not really sentient and someone is just messing with you. Until you can prove that though, you're still SOL.

In general going against the will of the party is a good way to cause party grief, even if you're right. On the other hand when your character wakes up and is in the process of being eaten, you will be able to tell them "I told you so". I'd recommend a flash card in case the cube is eating you head first.

Good luck!

If you have a bard or a cleric in the party, Zone of Truth is a possible tool in aiding you and your party to finding out if the ooze has hidden motives. I would be forward about the spell because it can voluntarily let the spell work, which is a sign of good faith on the ooze's part.
