I can't imagine going to a live, in-person game event during this madness. I will likely never again step foot in a game convention. It will probably be years until I enter a game store or host an in-person game at my house.
I guess if this is an international event, maybe some nations are better off than we are?

Looks like Goodman Games has something they are giving away. The free preview looks like it is both 5e and DCC at the same time. It is part of a future campaign/Kickstarter but looks like it might be ok.

Kobold Press has this for Tales of the Valiant (ToV). I could not find it on their site, so maybe only opening on Saturday.

So I found a nearby store that's doing Free RPG day and called up to volunteer to run Dragonbane. Turns out they outsource their D&D nights to a professional DM group who will also run free RPG Day.

I could be wrong, but I don't have high hopes a group paid to run weekly D&D will be as excited to run other games. Especially when they could just run the 5e Free RPG stuff and remind people they run a weekly game.

I was given their email to reach out but haven't heard from them. It's very likely I'll have to go to the store and find out how they are organizing the event.

Good luck. For what it's worth I was a weekly (more than) D&D DM for the store and I would run all day for Free RPG Day and explicitly not 5e stuff.

I'm running this year too. Bellevue Nebraska Game Shoppe. Thunder Road, Monty Python, and the Basic Roleplaying Chaosium adventures.

Thanks! Same. For many years I ran a weekend open ttrpg table at my old FLGS. Then COVID hit and then the owner passed away at 54.

I set up another open gaming table at a great new store last year but it eventually became a regular table and then eventually moved to the new GM's house.

If I had more time, I'd start an open table again. I missing teaching games and having a new crowd to play with. The only downside would be the one problem player who would always pop up. Never the same problem, though
