The hilly terrain is too rough for the elemental to charge, but it rushes forward (double move) at the party, looming over them as it crosses over the 100' distance in mere moments.

I understand why this might be the correct ruling, but no. At this point you are all only fatigued. I'm going to consider all of the heat damage as being a single effect which causes fatigue. Once you've been marching for a while, you'll become exhausted, but not at this point.

Planus is able to obtain enough cover from his dodge behind Ducane (and Zack) to avoid an attack of opportunity. He casts his blindness spell at the elemental, but it has no effect.

ooc: I'll need to consult my DMG to be sure, but I'm currently under the impression Opale will draw an AOO when she casts. Anyone who disagrees and wants to explain why is welcome.
