I agree that the inherent moosiness is a bit of a stumbling block - moose are docile animals for the most part, and they don't have any cultural associations with evil, cunning or spite.
I see Cas as sort of a generic version of Egypt's Set, actually; Set was immensely spiteful, and murdered Osiris to fulfill a grudge. If I were to use Cas in a game, I'd probably make him one of Set's aspects, ala Sutekh, and make him less moosy and more generically beastlike (Set had a head something like a camel and something like a donkey, IIRC, and nobody laughed at him).
I'll keep the antlers, though. Not enough D&D creatures have antlers.
