That's what we saw. However, this could have been done in moments on camera while Peter and Sylar were present but they chose to do it off camera, specifically after Matt told Peter and Sylar to leave. I think Matt did even more to him. I suspect his mission will continue and include attacking Sylar. I think Matt's obsession with Sylar will be the thing cited as pushing him over the edge into villaindom. I think Matt could use his powers to build a sizable army of henchmen.
