D&D 4E Hey everyone! If you're tired of 4e threads cluttering the forum...

What's all this talk about a "fourth edition?!" When did that happen? What the &%$# did I miss this time?!!!

I stopped reading 4E threads (other than this one) because most of the ideas of "what I'd like to see in 4E" were so rediculously stupid they made me want to kill myself. I just couldn't take any more.

And as you can see, in the space of a few days the number of 4E threads on the main page has shrunk from perhaps 10 (if you include threads complaining about it) to the current 3, one of which is this one. Of course, if 4E is actually announced at Winter Fantasy they will mushroom once again and probably to proportions unseen thus far.

I understand. However, I still think "Do 4E threads make you want to vomit?" would've made a hell of a thread title!

That made me laugh out loud. And ... just if you are keeping track, my official answer would be something like: "Queasy, but still able to hold it down with effort."

As I said before, I don't necessarily mind them being around. I ignore them. But it is a bit frustrating to have so many 4i threads because their topic is so narrowly focused. Having said that, I completely understand that the mods are right when they said that there is a category for a reason. So they expects 'em, and I can ignore 'em. It all works.

In the end, though, I'd have to say that my reaction isn't so much about the subject as the volume. I remember a few months back when the 1st page of the Rules forum had three different threads asking where to find the Duskblade spell list. That was annoying, too! Or, the variety of "What do ____ eat" threads was annoying. (Once Piratecat brought my attention to how many there actually were in his only slightly exaggerated post in the meta-forum!)

My point is that my reaction to 4i threads is not regarding the subject matter, just the volume. But hey, they'll drop off the front page soon enough. No biggie.

got it. Anytime i that i might say 4e, i will say 4i. Although I dont talk about 4"i", so i dont know when i will get to use it, aside from this thread. 4i for never and ever!!!!!

Considering 4e threads are

a) pointless, since no signs of it coming soon are seen,
b) pointless, since if they do it, they surely won’t read message boards for ideas, and
c) annoying, since many (me included) would hate the idea of having to buy the redigested core books again, plus the following redigested supplements,
d) really annoying, since it artificially creates hype for a product many do not want to see coming (see c and consider Paris Hilton too);

I suggest putting ONE 4e thread as a sticky, where those really wanting to discuss it might want to peruse its pages. Zap the others.
