Hey, in New England? Free this weekend?

A bunch of EN Worlders - KidCthulhu & myself, Blackjack, Sagiro, Kodiak, Aravis, Iron Chef BBQ, a few others - are on staff for something called Otherworld every year. I suppose I'd call it an adventure weekend, kind of a cross between interactive theater and Outward Bound and a really good gaming adventure. It involves men and women out in a gorgeous 4h camp in northern CT. Although it has some LARP trappings, it's quite different in nature and execution.

It's also unquestionably the thing I do each year that's the most fun.

Otherworld is coming up this weekend, and we just had a cancellation that opened a few of the 48 participant openings up. It occurred to me that while we don't usually target hard-core gamers, there are a lot of folks at EN World who would find this to be an absolute blast. And hey, with a guarantee that gives you double your money back if you don't find it to be a blast, it's hard to go wrong.

So - an invite! Check out www.otherworld.org. Register online and mention me (my real name is Kevin) on the registration form. And prepare yourself for something pretty damn amazing.

Thanks if you're interested - and if you have any questions that aren't answered by the FAQ and Common Concerns pages, let me know here.

We've had a lot of EN Worlders and other interesting folks (Blood Jester, Iron Chef BBQ... heck, even Pete Abrams of Sluggy Freelance!) as participants in previous years. I hope some EN Worlders can come!

Damn you! If this weren't happening a week before my wedding, I'd be all over it like a cheap suit! You hideous, hideous man making me then wait an entire year after to try it. Probably ought to make sure you get boiled in honey, or something, to pay for this vicous crime...

But then, next year I'll have a first anniversary to deal with, won't I? :)

Hmm, looks like a more interactive King Richard's Fair. I might be interested but unfortunately it's too short notice for this weekend. :\

Remind me next year.

Has anyone put together an ENWorld trip to King Richard's Fair? I haven't been there in years.

Piratecat, that is very cool. *sigh* I am nowhere near New England. There is also that new baby thing to consider. But hey, these are things I can plan around for the future. Is it always around the same time of year?

I wonder if I can talk any of my friends into a sojourn toward New England to play? I definitely need to find a way to do this at some point.

Wouldn't you know it...I grew up in Maine and lived there for 28 years-but, well, now I don't. :( Freezing winters vs. hurricanes...(I wonder if I still have my parka...) Sounds like a lot of fun...enjoy!

Probably for the best. KRF is horribly overpriced for what you get. If you want a fair, drive out to Tuxedo, New York for the Faire in Sterling Forest.

Buggers... Sounds like a good way to get the wife to try gaming again but alas- Can not do. Sounds like fun. You ought to try Vermont some time.

It's nothing like a ren faire in any case. It's a lot more like astonishingly good D&D plotting, spread over 3 days.

Looks like Capellan (now in the US) may be able to go. Rah! The more the merrier.

Bah, if I had Friday off from work, and if I wasn't going down for my college's alumni weekend, and if I had two hundred dollars for the registration, then I would almost certainly be there. It sounds like an unbelievable time. Have fun with it!
