Hey Planescape/Monte Cook fans - c'mere!

Folks might already know that Monte's coming out with a new book this fall called Beyond Countless Doorways, a book of planes that's something of a "Planescape Reunion" -- Monte's coauthoring it with fellow Planescape designers Colin McComb, Wolfgang Baur, and Ray Vallese. rk post illustrated the cover and David "Zeb" Cook wrote the foreword. Just like old times.

I'll be conducting an EN world interview with all four authors in anticipation for this. I figured it would be a lot more interesting if we included questions from the community as well. If you ever wanted to ask them about Planescape or Beyond Countless Doorways, now's a great chance. . . offer me some questions! I'll take them for the next week, between now and next Sunday.

Thanks for any involvement you'd like to offer.

Here's a question for them:

With 'Beyond Countless Doorways', are they attempting to create something with the same feel as, or similar to, good old Planescape? Or does this product take things in a different direction?

Maybe you could ask him this:

The "cant" of Planescape is/was one of the most controversial aspects of the setting. Alot of people hated it and alot of people thought it helped flesh out the setting. Overall, do you think it accomplished what it set out to do? Would you put it in again if you had it to do all over again?

I HEART Colin McComb.

Will you be bringing the factol wars back? Some have argued that warring factions got in the way of party creation. Others have said that they are adventure opportunities and add "grit" to the setting.

I am a big fan of the Inner Planes and would like to know if anything about them is going to be included in the book (or for that matter, any supplemental books).

2 Questions for consideration:

1) I understand that there WILL be some common themes that ties these locations together in the book. Will these planar locations basically serve as detail for the Diamond Throne cosmology? ( My setting ignorance may show here )

2) How many/What portion of the new planes/locales have themes that are outside of the more common ideas, like element specific and alignment grouped locations?

Oh, and another question:

What was the REAL purpose behind the release of "Faction War"? Was this a creator decision based on the feeling that the current Faction system was too complicated, or just a way to "go out with a bang" since the setting support was coming to an end?
