Hide Life? - Tome and Blood

You most certainly can be healed even if at -1000 Hps with Hide Life, you just cant be healed if your body part is destroyed and you are below -10, because you then instantly die. You must then be raised, etc. As far as disintigrate goes, I don't think it will work that way, Hide Life says if any effect would render you disabled/dying/or dead, it instead lowers you to 0 HPs. Disintigrate most certainly leaves you disabled or dead, so I would rule it the same way, but that's just my take on it. After all, if you could be -1,000,000 HPs with hide life and only be staggered, wouldnt that be about the same as being ground to dust?

0 hp=stabalized. As I recall, or healing spells automaticly stablize the target.

Healing spells do automatically stabilize the target, but 'stable' is listed in the glossary as being 'unconscious but not dying, with a current hit point total between -1 and -9'. So...I'm still not sure what the spell description means.

Most people, once they have negative HPs are "dying" and lose a HP each round, until they are stabalized, either by healing or magic. A character with Hide Life is never "dying" no matter how many HPs he has lost, because he can't die, and thus doesn't need to be stabalized when he has negative HPs. He is only staggered. Healing magic doesnt automatically stabalize him/her, it just gives him HPs back.

I want to throw in a random encounter in my game that involves a 40th lvl Wizard dust

Gimme a +3 dustcatcher and he will be history(pun intended, because if he was a lvl40 pile of dust, I think several people would know about him ;))

Actually i thought of a new question about Hide Life. It says that the caster can't die. But what about old age? Does he just reach venerable age and stop aging? Or is it like an Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail kind of thing?

It mentions nothing about not growing old... I'd just guess that your body would eventually fall apart... but you'd be horribly alive. Damn, that would be terrible... after a while all the internal organs would fail, bones would fail, etc... ugh...

Time to become a Lich, I guess. Wait, it never says that Liches can't benefit from Hide Life. !!! Now that is nasty! Unless they destroy my phylactery, I'm invincible!!!
