I voted Sword-n-Sorcery, although I suspect what I'm really voting for is grittier, less magically intrusive, and fairly more plausible through the maintaining of numerous real-world conditions that the game's heroic fantasy rules don't normally allow for ("you fall 100' and make a big red mark" vs "you fall 100' and get up like nothing happened").

Edit: And gray, questionable morality... Nothing like watching two nations of basically good people fighting over a tiny stretch of land while various larger kingdoms/empires of basically good people manipulate the hell out of both of them.
Rock on, Bendris. Although that's more "low fantasy" which is weakly correlated with Sword and Sorcery rather than Sword and Sorcery per se.

But that's a problem with the poll; the two options aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

Yup, gotta agree. Edition 4.0 will bring back OD&D, just for the grit and grime of mass PC graves.

I have more PC graves now than ever , in any edition.....3.x Monsters are souped up engines of death and destruction....especially my favorites fiends :D

Oh yeah, no doubt. I've had way more TPKs than Basic/Expert and 1E AD&D.

Famous last words from our last gaming session:

"C'mon guys, they're just Kobolds!"

Kobolds with a single tactic (gauntlet)
Kobolds with a leader with a wand of magic missles.
Kobolds who happened to get a few crits when the knuckle heads decided to run through the gauntlet, because they are "just kobolds!".

Geeze. Kobold assisted suicide. In the old editions, I think they would have survived and probably killed the kobold pretty easily.

(This was from Goodman Game's Dungeon Crawl Classics #2, by Mike Mearls, BTW)
