High Level Summoner

Dingo333

First Post
Ok so I was looking at the summoner from the APG, and noticed that its abilities kinda stalled out around lvl 20. Basically the only reason to continue in it past 20 is the Eidolon, and since it is the key point in the class, it seemed important to continue him.

Basically, you only boost your twin post lvl 20 and you can not multiclass as your twin becomes useless as the rest of the group becomes epic.

I am looking for if anyone has ideas on how this could be rectified.

Ideas welcomed, thank you

I'm not sure what you're asking here. The class tops out at 20th level, because Pathfinder does not have any epic rules for PCs as of yet. Granted, you can adapt the 3.0 or 3.5 epic rules, but you would need to do that for any of the Pathfinder classes.

it says on page 406 and 407 of the core book that pazio has no official rules, but if they did, you basically keep progressing as it does in the first 20 levels.

Problem is, Summoner has nothing to really progress, it can improve spells but has no real class abilities to increase. No point in continuing "past 20" for it except eidolon. On top of that, eidolon is great at lower level, but falls off kinda at higher

Ah, so you're not referencing the older epic rules. Fair enough. Class progression is going to break down after level 20 then, as those guidelines are not robust rules, as the core book itself says.

The wizard and sorcerer will mostly just be advancing caster level, spell slots etc, and it is pretty much the same for a summoner. It is probably reasonable to continue increasing the eidolon in power, same with animal companions, etc. Class abilities past 20th level build on existing powers, rather than adding new ones, and the eidolon is the summoner's main class feature.

If you have to build a summoner past 20th level for some reason, I would just base it around that.

Alright
My main reason for asking is I have a friend who runs a campaign that goes from lvl 1 to 24 and I was looking to see how people thought a summoner should advance at that point
