I've actually only made it to level 4 (Honor Steelbright, oh, how I miiiissss you) in my face-to-face games before the gaming group implodes and disbands OR we played something else. Of course, I've only played one real face-to-face session that wasn't a one-off in 3 years(?). My second session is this weekend.
I've run a total of two games in 3e. The first game is on hiatus until we can work out the very busy schedules of all the players. That game advanced to 4th level. The second game, which started about a year and a half ago, is at 4th level. We meet for about 20 sessions a year. No, we don't have a short attention span problem. We have something called the rest of our lives.
I can see what they were trying to do. They wanted us to be able to have a long campaign from 1-20. But the whole point of that was tossed out when they introduced the epic levels. Personally, I think there should be a 0.5 multiplier to earned exp for the "sweet spot" of the game (5-15). Levels 16-20 would accelerate back to normal and that would help build the sense of climax.
Not that WotC is begging me for my opinion or anything....
Just hit 11th, and it's taken forever ... well, three years anyway. The annoying thing is that I'm just starting to feel like the character has rounded out to match his concept. It's been a long wait!
I had two separate campaigns go from level 1 to 14 & 15 repectively. We were having fun and wanted to take it further. But too many players either got new jobs that screwed their availability or moved away because they were done with college.
I have Lester down as 26th level. Does this mean that I get an extra level for free?
Sweet!
Yeah, I've gone from a 1/1 Fighter Elementalist (Jester Homebrew Class, available to all at Yahoo!'s Cydra GROUP) to a 14th Elementalist*/4 Warrior of Chaos*/3 Divine Oracle/2 Contemplative/1 Paraelementalist*/1 Heirophant/1 Aestherite* with 450 hps now (base casting stat is Con, so there ya go.)
He recently became able to cast Miracle and he intends to milk it for all its worth! Pretty scary character; basically, the equivalent The Tick in terms of damage he can take. I joke that he's made out of Nerf.
