Historically Themed Campaigns/Settings

i played in a historical campaign a few years ago set around 1000 ad. my character was a viking, another was an irish gaelic who collected shrunken heads, and i don't remember the other characters. there was no magic, so no clerics or wizards. we started with a simple raid on an english monastary and journeyed through france, rome, hungary and byzantium. it was mostly historically accurate except for some crazy stuff that we did. the gm is a huge history buff of the middle ages and just got a bachelor's degree in history. he also ran a few other historical games which didn't last long, one was in transylvania. after we helped defend byzantium from an invasion the game kinda fell apart, but it was one of the longest and best campaigns i have ever played in.

This thread is a blast from the past!

Speaking of which, if you dig around in my sig, you can find the website that another DM and I had for our D&D on earth campaign. Ran that for years and years, though not recently.
