Hitting invisible creatures with ranged weapons

I would also note that there is a 50/50 miss chance when you are actively trying to hit an invisible target, so giving that same miss chance when you're not trying seems a little harsh on the invisible guy to me.

I assumed that once you rolled the attack on the invisible target under mvincent's ruling, the 50% miss chance would still apply.

Of course, presumably (as in the Striking the Cover Instead of a Missed Target optional variant rule), if your attack on the invisible creature missed due to concealment, then just like a miss due to Dodge bonuses, it means the attack wasn't stopped by the cover, and might hit the original target after all
