I’m fairly certain that Atticus knows that I think one of the least attractive reasons for getting engaged is the fact that I would then have to wear a rock of some description. I have weird skin (demonstrable proof that I’m an alien life form) which means that if metal of any description is in close contact (as per rings or watches) with my skin for more than a few hours, my skin turns a lovely shade of black.

EK: Yeah, I think the month is becoming more standard. I remember when my brother bought the ring he made disgusted comments about how it cost more than her car was worth. But my sister-in-law was thrilled and considering that she will be wearing it every day for (hopefully) the rest of her life … the cost per day’s wear is probably something like 2 cents a day.

Morbidity said:Corollary to above …. Would your feelings regarding wearing a ring differ if you were female? Guys with wedding bands is still somewhat optional, whereas it seems almost compulsory for women.
