Disagree. America has a different viewpoint on animated works than live-action movies. An animated work is assumed to be for little children. Surprise remains a strong reaction to find that there are "cartoons" made for older audiences. Because of this, networks will continue to edit out anything that might be too objectionable to parents, since they don't realize that a "harmless cartoon" can have somewhat graphic violence and nudity (though not necessarily sex).
I don't think any American channel (maybe something on non-basic cable) will ever show the hot springs episodes of Tenchi or Outlaw Star uncut and unaltered, for example.
