Dragon holiday? Hmmmm

What about in the distant past there was a town that was attacked by a dragon and the town won. Could have a celebration with a big cloth dragon supported on poles (imagine the chinese dragons in their parades) with ceremonial warriors attacking it. Could open up a general large faire or market.

For the dragon holiday I had the following idea:

In the past there was a time inwich the gods fought. At the end the dragon god Eidolon left Xiatha for greener pastures. This event is called the dragon flight ( he basically took a serious amount of dragons and dracoform creatures with him)

Now every several years. The remaining dragons and dragonlike creatures ( drakes, kobold, wyverns etc) get very agitated and rowdy, flying round or throwing wild parties (or go on bloody rampages). This event is also celebrated by other races. but with what?

I need to put a final form on thsi idea. Any comments?

hehe, thats sort off what I was thinking about. only based on a event or events. Ad it ties in with the mythology of xiatha.

About your idea. Why would the other races celebrate this?

What if the celebration was a prophesy about your dragon god returning. Could still have a recreation of the dragon flying around with my cloth dragon on poles thing. Maybe the pole puppeteers swoop around the crowd after that year's deadline for the return. Say high noon of the day after the first full moon after the summer solstice.

Eidolon was/is a pretty benefolent god. And the fact that dragons are circling round. Is pretty intense. Like I said the idea is not completely formed. THe prophesy, I want to be really careful with: the old gods are not really trusted/ well thought of. It would open a whole can of worms(wyrms ).

I have to think on this.

THe image of kites and cloth dragons on poles is a good one. That should be in.
