This creature is a mammal, and so breathes air. It can hold its breath for up to 45 minutes without much difficulty, and eats fish. It loves a particular type of fish, called a Weed Runner (because it hides and mates in seaweed patches). To catch these fast and skittish fish, the creature digs in on the ocean floor, waving the unique appendages on its back to mimick a patch of seaweed. The creature then waits for a Weed Runner to investigate and get stung (the appendages on the creatures back also contain a strong neuro-toxin, delivered through tiny spines on the skin). The creature then returns to its den (usually a hole or rotten tree) to enjoy its meal, or share it with its young.
Notice I say "creature" a lot. Haven't thought of a name for it yet.
