Then you should write senrayu, its like haiku, but usually about nature, and usually funny in some way. Sometimes they have an obtuse moral lesson, and have been popular among zen students in times past. The format is not exactly the same, but then the 3/7/5 format we use is not quite the same as the japanese version, or so I've been told. Apparently our syllables are not exactly the same concept as japanese poetic word sounds, but not speaking japanese myself, I'm not sure what this means.
