Yes, but that is only if you use points buy. So, it is only a choic some of the time. Race and alignment, feats, skills etc are character choices all of the time.

I still cant see this as a valid arguement as to why ability score prereq's should not be used. I've already given examples of situations where an ability prereq would be perfectly justified, and I can come up with more if you want... though I feel it would achieve little, since we both clearly hold to our opinions. Perhaps we should agree to disagree

You see, I disagree with this too. There;s no indication that the bulk of people *do* look on attribute scores as bad mechanics, mainly because they're not bad mechanics.

I think most people would look at an ability score requirement, and just shrug and get on with reading the other requirements. As long as ability scores aren't suddenly brought in en masse for every PrC and its dog - because most PrC's don;t need ability score prereqs, but that doesn't mean its not suitable for some...

In any case, this prestige class doesn't need it. Sounds like a poll should be made on this topic over in the Rules forum!
