I recommend it. I original set up my website and messageboards for my game before it mutated, and it makes it easier to keep in contact with certain players.
Of course, it doens't work with those who are less net-savvy or don't have a lot of access, but them's the breaks
Actually my only hold up is not that they can't get to them and use them, it's that some of them are too lazy to use them. Which sucks, we all have net access at home. I'm probably going to do it anyway, it willl be great for the D20 Modern game we're playing right now and for a little down the road when i run for a stint.
Mine ended up getting used by the entusiastic players, which is kinda why you do this sort of stuff in the first place. The lazy players wont care, and the enthusiastic players will use the resource for all it's worth
If you can find another use for the boards beyond gaming, it probably works a little better.
We have a message board for our group...works pretty well for us. Only I feel lonely cause I can stay on the boards 11 hours a day at work...while other people can only check it a few times a day.

Updated the ENPublishing website today, posted the mockup cover for QuickShots to the site and the QuickShots PR... Read through an adventure submission... desperately writing material for mercenary units in Armageddon 2089 for MEG... editing Arcane Strife... all the fun stuff.
