[HMP] Writer Needed for Historical Article - 300 Spartans

First Post
I am looking for a writer to put together what we call an Era Spotlight article, a sort of mini-campaign write-up, based on the Battle of Thermopylae, the famous battle where 300 Spartan soldiers, led by King Leonidas, held back the might of the Persian Empire, a story soon to be released as the film 300.

This Era Spotlight article will be published in Targum Magazine, Highmoon Media Productions' magazine supporting Testament, Trojan War, Eternal Rome and all Ancient World campaign settings.

We have a template to be followed, but in brief the article must include an introduction, short history, timeline of events, main personalities, short gazetteer, adventure hooks, and new material.

Ideally, this article will function as a supplement to Trojan War: Roleplaying in the Age of Homeric Adventure (Green Ronin Publishing), and use OGC material from that book.
However, you may create new material using standard d20 System rules from the SRD or UA; any OGC source beyond this must be cleared by us first to make sure all the legal stuff is kosher.

Target word count: 5000 words, more by approval.
Payment: $0.005 per word, paid 1/2 upon approval of final manuscript, 1/2 on the next quarterly payment after publication.
Timeframe: Ideally, the article will be fully written by the end of March, for publication in April. At most, the article will be fully written by the beginning of May, for publication in June.

For more information, you can post here or email me at daniel [at] highmoonmedia [dot] com.

This is not a dis... I'm a small publisher as well and completely understand the challenges... I'm just curious why the complex pay-out structure on a $25 article? (5000 words * .5 cents per word)

Just curious. Sorry if my question offends.

No worries on the question.

The reason is that I could approve more words for the article if they are needed/space is available, in which case it would need to be calculated.

It's really not that complex; regardless of the size of this project, it delivers to the writer 50% of his or her money sooner than most pdf publishers will do, the 15th of the month being the key payment date of the industry.
